Jake’s New Book, Released: IT’S NOT THAT I’M BIPOLAR, IT’S THAT I’M GAY

ah yes.
i’m not sure which is a bigger revelation
that i am gay,
or that i’m not bipolar.
or frankly,
what’s more exciting:
to be out of the closet,
or to finally have the book
available for all of you?
all is well in the world.
this book is nearly complete
yet we are only releasing a small bit of it
for you to enjoy.
publishers and agents have balked
saying it’s not mass-market enough.
that it won’t appeal to a global audience.
as you’ll see from our book’s site
and our Facebook page,
we kindly beg to difer.
if not for the amazing group of people i consider close friends –
including caitlin engel and manuel rappard on strategy and outreach,
or brenton geiser, phil knerr and robert roxby on digital strategy,
my proofreaders,
who happen to be my highschool freshman english teacher laura sturgis
or friend of 12 years bobby guerette
or adib birkland (who’s feedback, by the way, was garbage)–
this project of course wouldn’t be possible.
i wrote the book based on NINETEEN HOURS of interviews
done by james mcrae who lived with me in san francisco for a month.
and muhammed afaq tariq, in pakistan,
the coolest virtual assistant ever
who translated all nineteen hours of the audio recording interviews
into microsoft word documents
that i then worked from to write the book.
an extraordinary effort
has gone into seeding what we hope will be
a passionate call-to-action,
and a detailed how-to,
of how to live life massively.
hopefully you enjoy the stories and anecdotes
and outrageous and, at times, delusional behavior.
in hindsight, i realize i’ve lived this life so far
because it makes for one heck of a good story
that i can share
with all of you.
so pleased. so grateful.
